In a strong push to deepen cooperative-led rural credit, the Centre on Monday informed the Lok Sabha that RuPay Kisan Credit Card (KCC) coverage has been steadily expanding across Rural Cooperative Banks in the country.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that as per National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, cumulative RuPay KCC issuance has grown consistently over the last three years across states, including Uttar Pradesh.

Highlighting district-level progress, he noted that District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB), Bulandshahr alone has issued 71,635 RuPay KCCs as of March 31, 2025, underlining the strengthening role of cooperatives in farm credit delivery.

The government’s flagship “Sahakar se Samriddhi” initiative and the ‘Cooperation among Cooperatives’ campaign have been key drivers, enabling PACS, dairy, and other cooperative societies to distribute KCCs at concessional rates.

Following its success in Gujarat, a nationwide Standard Operating Procedure was rolled out in September 2024 to scale the model.

The RuPay KCC scheme, introduced in 2012 under Reserve Bank of India guidelines, continues to anchor inclusive agricultural financing.
