Co-op bank loan defaulters can’t fight election

In Haryana a person failing to pay arrears of any kind to any Primary Agriculture Co-operative Society, District Central Co-operative Bank and District Primary Co-operative Agriculture Rural Development Bank would not be able to contest any elections, reports Tribune.

One is not eligible even if he has not paid electricity bills.

A general candidate desirous of standing for elections will have to be a matriculate while the minimum qualification for a woman candidate or a SC candidate will be eighth standard.

However, for a woman SC candidate, the minimum qualification shall be fifth pass. Meanwhile, the contesting candidate will have to submit a declaration to the effect that he has a functional toilet at his place of residence.
