CIDCO moots idea of co-operative

Koli fisherwomen MumbaiThe fisherwomen of the village Kombadbhuje in Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra will soon form a cooperative of their own. This will be the first of its kind in Maharashtra. The cooperative will be formed as a corporate social responsibility initiative of the City and Industrial Development Corporation.

 

Apart from fish, the cooperative will supply vegetables and fruits to people living in various housing societies in the area. The cooperative will also be provided with a proper market place to organize its business. The cooperative will sell its produce at reasonable prices.

 

Sources close to the CIDCO say, the fisherwomen will get proper licences and could their business without any harassment. A large number of women can get involved as the cooperative will target nearly 100 housing societies for its business, add Cidco sources.
