CNBC reports India’s Central Information Commission has asked RBI to provide the list of big defaulters soon. Lucknow-based petitioner Nutan Thakur, had sought information about two lists of big defaulters prepared by the RBI itself.
Scores of cooperative banks across the country especially in Gujarat are not willing to reveal the names of big defaulters.
Some opposition leaders have accused the apex bank of conniving with the govt in not making the list of defaulters public. Sources say the issue is likely to balloon into a national scam.
