Chouhan reviews strengthening of KVKs

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, to discuss strategies for empowering Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) nationwide.

Participating officials included Agriculture Secretary Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat. With 731 KVKs across the country, Chouhan emphasised their role in technology dissemination, farmer training, and implementing government schemes for small farmers’ welfare.

He directed that KVKs receive adequate financial, technical, and human resources, promote integrated farming and natural agriculture, and maintain uniformity in training, research, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

The Minister also called for addressing staff promotions, salaries, and post-retirement benefits, ensuring KVK scientists and employees are supported to enhance overall agricultural development.
