Chhattisgarh: Why is there no election, Cong asks CM

Congress leader and former minister Mohammed Akbar has questioned the BJP Government in Chhattisgarh why elections to Board of Directors in some of the major Cooperative Societies of the State is not being held despite the elections being mandatory as per Cooperatives Act, reports the daily Pioneer.

In a press statement, Akbar cited the instances of Bhoramdeo Cooperative Sugar Mill, Chhattisgarh State Handloom Cooperative Federation and Chhattisgarh Rajya Dugdh Mahasangh to allege that election to the Board of Directors has not been held since past many years and the ruling party nominates its leaders as President of these Societies which is gross violation of rules.

Akbar said that elections to Board of Directors in Apex bank as well as Zila Sahkari Kendriya Banks in Rajnandgaon, Raipur and Sarguja have also been pending for a long time.
