In view of the proposed strike by private chemists on Wednesday, the Rajasthan Cooperation Department has directed all medicine outlets operated by cooperative consumer stores and purchase-sale cooperative societies to remain open from 8 am to 10 pm on May 20 to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines to the public.
State Cooperation Secretary and Registrar of Cooperative Societies Dr Samit Sharma said the decision was taken to prevent inconvenience to patients and the general public during the strike.
According to officials, a total of 538 medicine outlets, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras operated by Confed, cooperative consumer stores, and cooperative purchase-sale societies across the state, will remain functional for 14 hours on Wednesday.
These outlets will stock nearly 2,000 varieties of medicines, including essential and life-saving drugs. Dr Sharma has instructed Confed and district cooperative stores to maintain adequate stock of all necessary medicines to meet public demand during the strike.
The move is expected to provide significant relief to patients, particularly those dependent on regular medicines and emergency healthcare supplies.
