Cheaper power for co-op spinning mills in Maharashtra

More than 90 co-operative spinning mills in the state of Maharashtra are likely to benefit from a recent govt decision to give them electricity at the rate of Rs 3 per unit, reports Indian Express.

This sop for co-operative spinning mills would last for three years.

A move to encourage co-operative spinning mills to set up solar power plants in their premises in three years is also going side by side, said official sources.

Textile Director has however vowed to remain alert lest this sop is misused by cooperative spinning mills for purposes other than spinning. A random inspection would take place in these mills, officials said.
