Chandigarh State Cooperative Bank Chairman Satinder Pal Singh Sidhu met Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol on Monday to discuss pressing issues concerning Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), rural development, and the role of Central and State Cooperative Banks (CSCBs) in strengthening India’s cooperative framework.
The meeting focused on identifying challenges faced by cooperatives in rural areas, particularly in expanding financial inclusion, improving credit delivery mechanisms, and ensuring the effective functioning of PACS. Sidhu highlighted the importance of enhancing support for village-level cooperative institutions and integrating them with broader developmental policies.
He also raised points on strengthening the operational and financial capacity of CSCBs so they can play a more impactful role in the cooperative credit structure.
The discussion emphasized aligning government schemes with the cooperative network to better serve rural communities.
