The Co-operative Election Authority (CEA) under the Ministry of Cooperation has directed Mahesh Co-operative Milk Union Limited to amend its bye-laws in line with the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, as amended in 2023, before the election programme for the society can be issued.
In a communication, the CEA observed that the dairy cooperative’s bye-laws had not been amended since its incorporation in 2005. The authority pointed out several deficiencies, including the absence of provisions related to elections by the Cooperative Election Authority, filling of casual vacancies, and reservation for women and SC/ST directors on the Board.
The CEA also instructed the society to prepare and upload an updated members’ list as on March 31, 2026, on its website. Additionally, the society has been asked to submit records of previous election proceedings.
The authority said the election schedule would be issued only after the amended bye-laws and required documents are submitted.
