The CBI has registered an FIR in the alleged Rs 500-crore Loni Urban Multi-State Credit & Thrift Cooperative Society scam, following a Uttarakhand High Court order.

Mumbai resident Sameer Aggarwal is named the prime accused, along with several Dehradun-based agents.

Actors Shreyas Talpade and Vijay Nath, former brand ambassadors of the society, are also mentioned, though Nath termed the case “baseless.”

The FIR invokes multiple IPC and BNS sections, along with provisions of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act.

Officials said LUCC lured people with promises of high returns through 35 branches before shutting operations. All FIRs filed across Uttarakhand have been consolidated under the CBI investigation.
