PTI says quoting officials CBI has started a preliminary investigation against BK Yadav, former director of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation, for alleged involvement in illegal transfers, postings and promotion when the Samajwadi Party ruled the state.
The CBI probe was recommended by the state govt in 2017. The investigation assumes political significance given the ruling BJP will take on opposition parties including the SP and the Congress in the assembly election next year.
It bears recalling that earlier an enquiry constituted by the state govt. had charged Yadav with minting money through irregular appointments, promotions, transfers and payment of retirement benefits.
