In a significant step towards clean energy and circular economy, SUMUL Dairy has signed a tripartite agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited to set up a 75 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) dung-based Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant.

The agreement was signed in the presence of NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah, Suzuki R&D Center India Director Kenichiro Toyofuku, SUMUL Custodian H.R. Patel, and SUMUL Dairy Managing Director CA Arun Purohit. The project is being implemented under the guidance of NDDB and aims to promote sustainability in the dairy sector.

The proposed CBG plant will utilize cattle dung to produce clean biogas along with nutrient-rich organic fertilizers, supporting sustainable agriculture and natural farming. The initiative is expected to improve soil health, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, create additional income for dairy farmers, and contribute to India’s carbon neutrality goals.

SUMUL Dairy has already installed 6,543 family-size biogas plants, along with community and farm-level biogas units, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy and farmer empowerment.
