Hindu reports CAMPCO, has not taken kindly to BJP parliamentarian Nishikant Dubey’s demand for banning the use of arecanut saying it causes cancer.
The BJP MP has sent a letter to the prime minister cataloguing dangerous effects of the arecanut consumption.
However, President of CAMPCO A. Kishore Kumar Kodgi and managing director H.M. Krishna Kumar has condemned Dubey’s demand and argued arecanut has many medicinal properties both for human beings and livestock.
The CAMPCO leaders have maintained that arenacut is not detrimental to human health and that the interests of the areca nut farmers will be protected.
