Campco president S.R. Satishchandra is quoted saying Campco has ramped up collection of arecanut stocks direct from farmers and already procured about 5,000 quintals from 200 farmers in Vitla and Puttur areas, reports Hindu.
The collection of stocks from the doorsteps of farmers is being carried out on an experimental basis.
The Campco president said the current procurement drive would ease difficulties like lack of farm workers and loading and transporting of produce faced by farmers.
Usually, produce in large quantities is being bought from farmers.
