Budget has nothing for famers: NAFSCOB Chairman
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

“I am very disappointed because no announcement has been made for the agriculture sector. All our expectations have gone in vain”, said Konduru Ravinder Rao, who doubles as the Chairman of the apex body of StCBs and DCCBs-Nafscob and Telangana State Cooperative Bank.

He further added that the farmers are badly affected due to Covid-19 and no announcement had been made to help them. Even, no incentives have been given for drip irrigation and farm equipment. No waive-off plan has been made for the farmers’ loan, Rao said.

“Earlier, we were expecting that the government would announce new plans and policies to strengthen the cooperative sector but nothing has been done. As we cater to the financial needs of the small and marginal farmers, the tax from farming activities should be exempted”, he demanded.

It is worth mentioning that the Central Government has made a provision of 900 crores in the Union Budget and the special focus has been given for training, education, and digitalization of PACs.
