In a significant move to uplift and empower the artisan and weaver community, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), distributed registration certificates to newly formed Industrial Handicrafts Cooperative Societies under the Financial Support Scheme of the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu.
The distribution ceremony marked a key milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to promote traditional crafts, encourage self-reliance, and provide formal institutional support to artisans and weavers in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Shavan urged the beneficiaries to utilize this opportunity to scale up their operations, access financial assistance, and connect with larger markets.
This initiative is expected to pave the way for sustainable livelihood generation and boost the traditional handicraft sector in Kishtwar.
