Bloody fight in UP; Shishpal asks Sanghani to intervene

Even as the issue of Uttar Pradesh co-operative elections was raised during IFFCO’s AGM on the side-lines, news related to bloody fights during filing of nominations are coming from various parts of the state.

According to reports coming to Indian Cooperative desk, BJP and Samajwadi Party workers had a fight during the filing of nominations in the cooperative bank election in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.

Both parties had gathered their members in large numbers at the Gwal Maidan branch of the Sahakari Gram Vikas Bank for filing nominations for the post of a representative.

SP has charged that BJP workers physically prevented them from filing nominations.

Earlier, on Wednesday during the AGM proceedings of IFFCO, senior co-operator Shish Pal Singh raised the issue and solicited the help of IFFCO’s Vice Chairman and senior BJP leader Dileep Sanghani for easing the situation.

Shish Pal who was on the Board of IFFCO for many years, charged that BJP govt is not allowing SP party workers even to file nominations in the co-op elections currently underway in UP.

BJP sources charge that SP had systematically captured all the co-op posts in the state for past many years and now when BJP is doing the same, they are complaining.

Cooperators, however are aghast at the way Yogi govt has made a mockery of democracy in the cooperative elections. There are already hundreds of cases in the court on the issue.

Kannauj incident is a reminder of the fact that if things are not conducted democratically, more bloody fights could be witnessed.
