BJP walkout over Kangra Coop Bank funds in Himachal

Chaos rocked the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday as BJP legislators accused the Congress government of withholding key details on funds allegedly distributed by Kangra District Cooperative Bank to women self-help groups in Dehra, media reports say.

BJP MLA Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur had sought information on transfers made between June 1 and July 10, 2024, but officials said data was still being compiled.

Citing RTI records, the opposition charged the government with hiding facts. Amid protests, BJP members staged a walkout, while Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu dismissed the uproar as headline-grabbing theatrics.
