Calling it a historic mandate for the cooperative sector, Uttarakhand Cooperation Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the Bharatiya Janata Party has secured a massive victory in the elections to the state’s purchase and sale cooperative societies.

According to the minister, BJP-backed candidates won control of nearly 98 percent of the boards of the state’s Kray-Vikray Sahkari Samitis, reflecting strong public support for the party’s cooperative agenda.

Elections were conducted in 39 cooperative societies across Uttarakhand, where BJP-supported candidates registered an overwhelming performance.

A total of 348 representatives were elected to the boards of directors, including 136 women and 212 men, indicating significant participation of women in the cooperative leadership structure. In addition, 37 representatives were chosen as chairpersons while 25 were elected vice-chairpersons of the societies.

Dr. Rawat described the result as a reflection of people’s faith in the welfare-oriented policies of the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP organization’s grassroots outreach in the cooperative sector.
