Bihar’s Chief Secretary office to be attached in a co-op case

Local news outlets report, a court in Patna has ordered the attachment of the offices of state Chief Secretary and a few more offices for not paying Rs. 664.85 crore to a cooperative bank. The development has been described as cringe-worthy for the state government.

The dates back to 2016 when a district judge had asked the office of the Chief Secretary to pay Rs. 664.85 crore to the Multi State Cooperative Land Development Bank (MSCLDB), formerly known as Bihar Rajya Sahkari Bhumi Vikas Bank Samiti of Bihar and Jharkhand.

The state government had refused paying the amount arguing the case was not over despite an order by a district judge.

The petitioner of the case is MSCLDB. Meanwhile, the chief secretary of Bihar has refused to comment on the development.
