On the occasion of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, a seminar on “Youth Cooperatives” was successfully organised at Kingway Technical Institute, Kaimur district of Bihar on Tuesday. The programme was organised by the Son Valley Development Foundation with support from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and Samriddh Bharat Abhiyan – AVARD, New Delhi.
NCDC Board Member Dhananjay Singh and Buxar Member of Parliament Sudhakar Singh were among the guests present on the occasion. Other dignitaries included senior officials from NCDC, AVARD, and Canara Bank. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of farmers, youth, and social workers.
The seminar aimed to strengthen cooperative-based business activities in Bihar by linking agriculture and allied sectors with entrepreneurship, thereby promoting self-reliance among farmers, youth, and women.
Addressing the gathering, Dhananjay Singh highlighted successful cooperative models and emphasised the need to transform agriculture into an entrepreneurial activity. He also drew attention to irregularities in paddy procurement through PACS and urged farmers to unite to safeguard their rights. MP Sudhakar Singh stressed the importance of developing cooperative clusters in agriculture, dairy, food processing, and fisheries.
Officials from NCDC assured full support in cooperative formation and project implementation, while Canara Bank provided guidance on banking services and financial literacy. The programme concluded with appreciation for the organisers and optimism for a stronger cooperative future.
