Bihar’s Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) will now expand into rural tourism, homestays, transport services, and local guide training, per new Cooperative Department guidelines, the English Jagran reports.
Secretary Dharmendra Singh assured full departmental support and the formation of new committees if needed. The initiative aims to boost rural employment, promote tourism, and improve marketing of regional products, with PACS eligible for Tourism Department schemes.
Additionally, Makhana-producing cooperatives have been told to draft job-creation plans. To tackle low capital and poor pricing, banks will offer financial support and consider Kisan Credit Cards with limits up to Rs 5 lakh for Makhana farmers.
