A crucial meeting of Managing Directors of District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) was held recently under the chairmanship of the Managing Director of Bihar State Cooperative Bank (BSCB).
A significant focus was placed on promoting Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) as vehicles for boosting farmers’ income and market access. Officials discussed linking Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) with FPOs to facilitate credit flow, aggregation, and collective marketing.
The progress of the PACS Computerization Project in Bihar was reviewed in detail. The initiative, part of the Government of India’s nationwide drive, seeks to modernize grassroots cooperative units, enhance governance, and expand service delivery to rural communities.
The meeting also addressed the need to enhance the reporting and monitoring system across cooperative banks for better transparency, timely decision-making, and compliance with regulatory norms.
The BSCB Managing Director urged all DCCBs to work in close coordination with PACS and other cooperative institutions to accelerate reforms and achieve set targets within the stipulated timelines.
