The Ministry of Cooperation has launched a special Swachhotsav Campaign as part of preparations for Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
The campaign began with Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani and ministry staff taking the Swachhata Pledge and participating in a cleanliness drive at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan. Dr. Bhutani also planted a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative.
The campaign, running from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, will identify unkempt sites as Cleanliness Targeted Units (CTUs), host health camps for Safai Karmacharis, and promote eco-friendly festivals.
On 25th September, a nationwide “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” shramdaan initiative will be organized to mark Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary. States, UTs, and cooperative bodies are urged to participate.
The Ministry aims to transform Swachhotsav 2025 into a people’s movement, ensuring cleanliness becomes a permanent lifestyle and contributing to a clean, healthy, and prosperous India.
