Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, chaired a high-level review meeting on Wednesday to assess the progress of various flagship initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative ecosystem across the country.
The review focused on critical initiatives such as the computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), the formation of 2 lakh new Multi-Purpose PACS, and the expansion of Dairy and Fishery Cooperative Societies.
The meeting also evaluated the performance of additional business activities being undertaken by PACS, including the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs), Common Service Centres (CSCs), and PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs).
In addition, key discussions were held on the promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), enhancing cooperation among cooperatives, and updating the National Cooperative Database (NCD). The activities planned for the upcoming International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) were also reviewed.
Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary, and Siddharth Jain, Joint Secretary, along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, participated in the meeting.
The officers shared valuable insights and suggestions to ensure smoother and faster implementation of these critical initiatives.
