Bhatpara Naihati Cooperative Bank indulged in irregularities in disbursing loans worth Rs 20 crore to a few contractors of Bhatpara municipality. A case has been started in this connection.
BJP leader Arjun Singh, who is presently the chairman of the bank, was the chairman of Bhatpara Municipality when the scam took place.
TMC leader Somnath Shyam has lodged a complaint with the Bhatpara police.
Police sources say the case has been initiated on charges of cheating.
