India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing platform, Bharat Taxi, is set for a grand launch event in Gujarat on June 27, 2026, at the Mahatma Mandir Auditorium in Gandhinagar.
The event will mark a major expansion of the platform, which is being positioned as a cooperative alternative to app-based taxi aggregators.
Bharat Taxi was launched nationally in February 2025 by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Built on a zero-commission model, the platform enables drivers, known as “Sarathis,” to become stakeholders in the service. The model aims to ensure transparent fares, better earnings for drivers, and profit-sharing benefits.
The service has already been operating on a pilot basis since December 2025 in Delhi-NCR and parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, offering cab, auto and bike ride options.
The upcoming event is expected to bring together cooperative leaders, transport stakeholders and drivers as Bharat Taxi accelerates its expansion in Gujarat and strengthens its presence in India’s mobility sector.
