Cooperative mobility platform Bharat Taxi (Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited) has launched its driver app in Chandigarh, inviting taxi, auto and bike drivers, referred to as “Sarathis”, to join its zero-commission ride network.

The rollout marks a key step in expanding the cooperative ride-hailing model, where drivers are not just service providers but stakeholders in the platform. Driver onboarding has begun, allowing early registrations ahead of the launch of full passenger services in the city.

Highlighting the need for reform in urban mobility, COO Vivek Pandey said traditional ride-hailing platforms often burden drivers with high commissions and opaque earnings. Bharat Taxi aims to address this by enabling drivers to retain 100% of their fares while operating within a cooperative framework.

The platform, already active in Delhi-NCR and recently launched in Gujarat cities like Rajkot and Ahmedabad, offers digital onboarding, transparent pricing and real-time earnings visibility.

Backed by major cooperative institutions, Bharat Taxi seeks to build a nationwide, driver-owned mobility ecosystem based on fair earnings and shared ownership.
