The misery of the just sacked governor of Mizoram Kamla Beniwal shows no sign of abating. The allegation is that she faked her membership of a farmers’ cooperative society in her home state Rajasthan and got a huge amount of high value land allotted for herself way back in 1953.

She used false affidavits and documents in order to acquire the land. She claimed in her documents that she was a tiller of land. At the time, she was a minister in the Rajasthan government.

A social activist has filed an application in a court asking how she could still retain her membership of the farmers’ cooperative society. The present govt in Jaipur mulls over booking her in this land scam.

The worth of the land illegally acquired by the cooperative is estimated to be around Rs. 6,000 crore. Sources say she can be now brought to justice for she no longer enjoys immunity as a governor.
