Bedi sore with no elections in co-ops for 20 yrs

Kiran Bedi is not the type of person to lie low if she finds something is amiss. She achieved near immortality by removing encroachments from the roads of Delhi in the past. Bedi now focuses on co-operatives in Puducherry and has vowed to hold elections sooner than later.

Being the Lt Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi recently had discussions with Welfare and Cooperatives Minister M Kandasamy about the lack of democracy in cooperative organizations in the union territory, reports PTI.

Bedi has now decided to hold elections in the cooperative bodies which have been in control of non-elected functionaries for several years.

The Lt. Governor shared the information with the media through her Whats App message. Several cooperative officials attended the meeting. Official sources confirm elections to the cooperative societies have not been held for the past 20 years.
