BBSSL, ASCOF sign MoU to boost seed supply in Assam

In a significant move to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem and improve access to quality agricultural inputs, the Assam State Cooperative Federation (ASCOF) and Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday at Khanapara in Guwahati.

The partnership aims to promote cooperative-led seed production and distribution across Assam, ensuring the timely availability of certified, high-quality seeds to farmers at affordable prices. The initiative will also strengthen the seed supply chain while creating additional income opportunities for farmers through the active involvement of cooperative institutions and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).

Aligned with the national vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi,” the MoU emphasizes cooperation among cooperatives to drive sustainable agricultural development. With this agreement, Assam becomes the 14th State in the country to formally partner with BBSSL.

The collaboration is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing farm productivity, promoting self-reliance in seed availability, and building a resilient and sustainable agricultural framework through the cooperative movement in the State.
