Bassein Bank inaugurates classy guest house in Vasai

Bassein Catholic Cooperative Bank in Maharashtra recently opened its newly constructed guest house for the bank’s shareholders at Vasai.

The BCCB bank had a land measuring 2 acre at Usgaon a small village in Maharashtra and the construction of the guest house began 1.5 years back. About one lakh shareholders are connected with the bank.

While talking to this correspondent Bank Vice Chairman Yuri Domnic Gonsalves said, “We have built a guest house in the name of our former chairman Late Michael Furtado and it is equipped with all the facilities. The new guest house consists of 4 Bungalows with 14 rooms. Around 50 people can be accommodated here”, said Gonsalves.

“We have also installed a water and electricity solar plant. The total expense occurred for constructing the guest house is Rs 2.5 crore. It is fully air conditioned. The members can book accommodation online. We have also reserved separate bungalows for the staff members and ex officials of the bank”, he said to this correspondent on the phone.

However, the rate of staying here is very reasonable in comparison to other hotels, Gonsalves claimed.

The Bank Chairman Onil John Almeida, CEO Mrs Brijdina Coutinho, directors and many others were present in the inaugural ceremony.

It bears recall that earlier the BCCB bank was in news when the total business of the bank crossed Rs 10 thousand crore mark.

The Bassein Catholic Cooperative Bank was established by a social reformer P.J.Monis, Christian missionery on 6 February 1918 in Vasai, The bank has a network of about 58 branches. It earned a net profit of Rs 75 crore in the financial year 2016-17.
