Bajaj meets Nabard Chairman; seeks support

Chhattisgarh State Cooperative bank President Ashok Bajaj recently discussed the issues related to Chhattisgarh Cooperative Banks with Nabard chairman Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala.

Bajaj said the Chhattisgarh agriculture sector has made remarkable progress and it was evident from the allocation of fund for the sector. While agriculture loans disbursed in the year 2000-01 were a paltry Rs 160 crore , the amount allocated in the year 2014-15 jumped to a whopping Rs 3000 crore.

He said there are two state two cooperative banks that are unable to comply with the norms under section 11 [ 1] due to their weak financial situation. He urged Nabard to exempt them from the aforesaid section.

NAFSCOB vice president said NABARD will provide financial and other forms of assistance to strengthen cooperative banks, societies or the apex bank so they could serve farmers in a better way.
