Dr U S Awasthi visited University of California, Santa Barbara and engaged with faculty members, researchers and students at the Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation and Democracy on the transformative role of cooperative economics.
During a fireside chat with Gaye Johnson on “The Power and Promise of Cooperative Economics,” Awasthi shared insights from his decades-long journey in the cooperative sector and highlighted the growth of IFFCO as one of the world’s leading cooperative institutions.
He appreciated research focused on cooperative governance, livelihood enhancement, community empowerment and inclusive economic development.
Awasthi also underlined India’s commitment to the cooperative movement under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah through the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” saying cooperatives remain key drivers of democratic participation, shared prosperity and sustainable development worldwide.
