Former MD of IFFCO and a seasoned cooperative leader Dr U S Awasthi paid homage to former IFFCO Chairman Surendra Jakhar on his punyatithi, remembering him as a committed leader who devoted his life to the welfare of farmers and the strengthening of India’s cooperative movement.
Recalling his close association with Jakhar, Awasthi said he was a visionary who worked tirelessly to advance farmer-centric policies and institutional integrity within the cooperative sector.
His leadership at IFFCO was marked by a deep sense of responsibility, transparency and service, which helped reinforce the organisation’s role as a pillar of rural and agricultural development.
Awasthi noted that Jakhar’s values, dedication and contribution to cooperatives continue to inspire future generations. Though no longer physically present, his enduring legacy remains embedded in the cooperative movement and in the lives of countless farmers he served.
