A review meeting of the Neem Project based on genetic improvement of various high oil yields at Forest Research Institute was held in Dehradun on Monday which was attended by IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi, among others.

Several IFFCO Officials including R P Singh, IFFCO Marketing Head Yogendra Kumar, elected Director Pramod Kumar Singh and others participated in the meeting. A S Rawat, Director, FRI was also present.

It is a project funded by IFFCO in Dehradun with the FRI with an aim to develop a new quick yielding strain of the neem. The fertilizer cooperative has planted lacs of neem trees at different locations across the country.

IFFCO has already been able to get some quick growing neem varieties through the help of FRI, informs its Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar.  In his tweet IFFCO MD wrote, “Today, reached #dehradun to attend the review meeting of the #Neem Project at FRI Dehradun”.

IFFCO has been at the vanguard of this scientific development and had in fact even encouraged its production by announcing that it will buy nimoli from villagers. “Anybody can sell nimoli to any of the IFFCO centres’, announced its MD Dr U S Awasthi in one of the AGMs.
