Former IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi has described the Union Budget as a balanced and growth-oriented roadmap that aligns economic expansion with sustainable development. Reacting to the Budget, Dr Awasthi said the proposed outlay for the biopharma sector could significantly boost research and innovation in biopesticides and biostimulants, helping Indian agriculture gradually reduce its dependence on chemical inputs.
He also welcomed continued policy support for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies and the Lakhpati Didi initiative, terming them vital for strengthening grassroots institutions and empowering rural women economically.
Dr Awasthi noted that, amid a challenging global geopolitical environment, the Finance Minister has presented a pragmatic and forward-looking Budget. He added that the fiscal strategy reflects decisive leadership under the guidance of the Prime Minister and addresses both growth imperatives and rural development priorities.
