The Assam State Cooperative Federation and National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) signed an MoU to strengthen Assam’s cooperative movement and expand global reach of its produce, including rice, bamboo, ginger and turmeric, media reports say.
The pact emphasizes structured marketing, brand building, and streamlined exports, aiming to empower grassroots cooperatives and integrate farmers as shareholders in the value chain.
Officials said the initiative will enhance farmer incomes and sustainable livelihoods. On the same day, Assam launched an integrated portal for the Registrar of Cooperative Societies during the SCDC meeting in Dispur.
