In a significant step towards strengthening the cooperative movement in Arunachal Pradesh’s agriculture sector, an MoU was signed between Lohit Cooperative General Stores Ltd., Tezu, and Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Ltd. (BBSSL), New Delhi on Tuesday, in the presence of Arunachal Pradesh Minister of Cooperation Ojing Tasing.

The agreement aims to promote conservation, multiplication, and supply of quality seeds, with special emphasis on India’s traditional and indigenous crop varieties.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ojing Tasing described the MoU as a historic milestone for the state, highlighting its potential to empower farmers at the grassroots. He noted that access to quality seeds and reliable agricultural inputs through cooperatives would enhance farm productivity, improve farmers’ incomes, and build resilient rural livelihoods.

The collaboration envisions the holistic development of agriculture through cooperatives, reflecting the spirit of “Sahakar se Samridhi”. By strengthening seed systems and cooperative networks, the initiative is expected to contribute meaningfully to the national vision of a Viksit Bharat, driven by sustainable, inclusive, and farmer-centric agricultural growth.
