On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (APCOB) organised a 2-km Women Empowerment Walk in collaboration with the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation under the city’s popular Happy Sunday initiative in Vijayawada.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from officials of NABARD and APCOB, along with local residents and morning walkers. The walk was flagged off by Mahesh Pahad Singh, General Manager of NABARD, and B. Ramachandraiah, Chief General Manager of APCOB.
More than 100 officials joined the walk, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment and recognising the role of women in agriculture, rural development and nation-building. Cultural performances by women classical dancers added a vibrant touch and drew large public attention.
As the apex cooperative bank of Andhra Pradesh, APCOB plays a key role in supporting farmers, rural entrepreneurs and women members through its network of District Cooperative Central Banks and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies. The bank offers agricultural, gold, housing and education loans, besides deposit schemes and digital banking services.
The event reinforced APCOB’s commitment to financial inclusion, community engagement and strengthening women’s role in the cooperative sector.
