The Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has constituted a Special House Committee to investigate alleged irregularities and corrupt practices in the Andhra Pradesh State Co-operative Bank Limited (APCOB), District Co-operative Central Banks (DCCBs), and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) during the period 2019–24.
The committee will be chaired by senior legislator Konathala Ramakrishna. Other members appointed to the committee include Koona Ravi Kumar, D. Narendra Kumar, Bolisetti Srinivas, Yarlagadda Venkata Rao, Burla Ramanjaneyulu, and N. Amaranath Reddy.
The committee has been vested with all powers applicable to Legislative Committees. It will also have the authority to co-opt expert services as required and receive complaints and representations from stakeholders and the general public.
Its mandate includes fixing accountability for any irregularities found, addressing additional relevant issues that may arise during the inquiry, and expanding the scope of investigation with the Speaker’s approval if necessary.
The committee is expected to submit its report within six months from the date of its first sitting.
