Andhra Pradesh CPI seeks immediate Co-op polls

CPI State president G Eswaraiah has urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to immediately conduct elections to cooperative credit institutions, including 1,895 PACS and 13 DCCBs, media reports say.

In a letter, he said elected bodies’ tenure ended in 2018, but polls were not held and nominated committees continue.

This has weakened transparency and violated the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act, 1964. Eswaraiah said the delay has deprived SC, ST and BC communities of representation and demanded immediate elections with mandatory reservations.
