A high-level review meeting was held in Amaravati to assess the Andhra Pradesh Model of PACS Computerisation, with Dr. Ajay Kumar Sood, Deputy Managing Director of NABARD, leading the discussions recently.
This project, now a national benchmark, is transforming Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) through technology, governance reforms, and farmer-centric services.
Sri Babu A, Chief Commissioner & Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Andhra Pradesh, highlighted that the initiative goes beyond digitisation. “Our PACS have evolved into multi-service hubs offering banking, agricultural inputs, government schemes, and digital services directly to farmers,” he said. He praised the integration of Aadhaar-based e-KYC and real-time dashboards for enhancing transparency and accessibility.
Dr. Sood lauded Andhra Pradesh for its rapid execution and innovative measures like strict data validations and uniform accounting. He emphasized the state’s success in balancing digital advancement with grassroots trust, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in PACS modernisation.
Supported by clear policy directives from the State Government and the Government of India’s vision, Andhra Pradesh has made remarkable progress, transforming PACS into trusted, technology-enabled institutions that enhance farmer livelihoods and financial inclusion.
The meeting was attended by key officials from NABARD, APCOB, and the State Cooperative Department, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this pioneering project.
