After nearly three decades of legal uncertainty, the long-stalled IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone in Nellore district is set for revival. The state Cabinet has cleared all legal hurdles and approved Rs 870 crore for core infrastructure development, opening the SEZ for industrial activity.
Spread across 2,776 acres in Kodavalur, Dagadarthi and Alur mandals, the project is expected to bridge part of the industrial vacuum left after Sri City’s separation from Nellore.
Strategically located along the Chennai–Vijayawada highway and near the upcoming Dagadarthi airport, the SEZ could attract investments of about Rs 9,400 crore and generate nearly 70,000 jobs. An ethanol plant and logistics facilities are also planned.
