Amreli District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (AMR Dairy) is planning to tie-up with leading dairy cooperative GCMMF. Its founder chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani met Chairman Jethabhai Patel and Managing Director R S Sodhi of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) recently in this connection at the latter’s headquarters in Anand.
AMR Dairy came up into existence in 2002. Its average milk procurement from about 795 villages is 1.5 lakh liter daily. The turnover of the union exceeds Rs. 150 crore.
Sanghani discussed various issues including generating employment opportunities through the dairy sector, setting up of Packaging Units, Cattle breeding and many other issues.
Talking to this correspondent Sanghani said ” the milk from the Saurashtra region will be procured for the Amul processing unit located in Gandhinagar and further afield. I suggested setting up of more packaging units in the state to save transportation costs and other expenses, he added.
GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi welcomed the suggestions and assured action will be taken soon on these issues.
AMR Dairy Chairman Ashwinbhai Savaliya, Gujarat Mahila Credit Society Chairperson Geetaben Sanghani were also present.
