Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah participated in a tree plantation programme organized by IFFCO under the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at Vavol, Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

The campaign, which seeks to promote sustainability and honor the nurturing spirit of motherhood, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community.

Shah planted a sapling during the event, emphasizing the critical role of trees in environmental protection and public health. He urged citizens to actively join the movement by planting trees in their surroundings and contributing to nature conservation.

The event highlighted Gandhinagar’s growing enthusiasm for environmental initiatives, with residents continuing the tradition of large-scale plantation drives every year.

Shah noted that such initiatives not only help preserve ecological balance but also create a healthier and greener future for the coming generations.

Several dignitaries attended the programme, including IFFCO Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani,  Vice-Chairman Balvir Singh, Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, IFFDC CEO Madhvi Vipradas, IFFCO Kalol Unit’s Sandeep Ghosh, Nano Urea Plant General Manager P.K. Singh, and State Marketing Manager N.M. Gajera. Their presence underscored the cooperative sector’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The programme concluded with a collective appeal for citizens to plant more trees and strengthen the nationwide green movement.
