Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was on Saturday elected chairman of the Malegaon Cooperative Sugar Mill in Baramati, Pune district.
The election followed a sweeping victory by the Nilkantheshwar panel, backed by the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), in the recent cooperative polls.
The win further cements Pawar’s influence in the Baramati region, a stronghold of his political base. His appointment is seen as a strategic move ahead of upcoming elections, reinforcing his grip over cooperative institutions in western Maharashtra.
