Ajaybhai, a dynamic co-operator; Amin on Patel’s election

G H Amin, who made way for Ajay Patel to take over as COBI Chairman in the elections held last week at the NCUI headquarters said that Ajay Patel is effective in whatever he does. In a frank chat with this correspondent it was clear that Amin pins hope on him for securing the much sought-after banking licence for COBI.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative, Amin recounted how he met Ajaybhai in his office 3-4 months back and convinced him to take up the job of Chairmanship. “He has already been on the COBI Board for the last two terms but this time, all of us felt that he should fill the top slot”, said Amin revealing that Dollarbhai Kotecha, another important co-operator, has come to the COBI Board for the first time.

Amin  also said how he had to work hard to have a representative board. There are Directors from State Co-op Banks, urban co-op banks, land mortgage banks and from every other segment of the co-op credit, said Amin showcasing H K Patil, Milind Kale and others to prove his point.

Amin had to be after them for filling up forms for becoming delegates on time schedule. Later he also worked hard to make them file their nomination papers on time. “All for the sake of COBI”, said Amin philosophically.

His association with Ajay Patel spans many decades when Amin was the Chairman of ADC Bank and Patel was one of the Directors. Later Patel headed the Bank.
