Ajay Patel bags Kribhco award

Ajaybhai Haribhai Patel from Gujarat and Raghuveer Singh from Punjab were honored with the Sahkarita Shiromani and the Sahakarita Vibhushan Awards respectively for their contributions to the cooperative movement on the occasion of Kribhco’s 36th Annual General Meeting.

Both of them thanked KRIBHCO for the recognition. A cheque of Rs 1,01,000 was presented to each along with shawls and shields.

In his speech, Ajaybhai Haribhai Patel who is said to be close to BJP President Amit Shah and is also the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank said “”KRIBHCO is doing a praiseworthy work in delivering potable water to the countryside of India and doing several other social works for the farmers. In Gujarat, there are 18 DCCBs, 8,400 PACCS Societies and more than 28 lakhs farmers associated with it”, he said.

Raghuveer Singh, another recipient of the Award said “In 1987, I was the chairman of Doodh Sahakari Sangh, Ludhiana which had a turnover of Rs 70 crore at the time. Now, the society has a turnover of Rs 200 crore and earned a net profit of Rs 12 crore in the last year, said Singh.

He added “I am associated with the Cooperative Movement from1972 and presently I am on the board of Markfed, Punjab. I will dedicate the amount given to me to social work, he said to this correspondent.

Last year KRIBHCO had honored Maganbhai Patel with the Sahkarita Shiromani Award and Panchanan Sharma with the Sahakarita Vibhushan Award.
